S3E1: a cop shooting racism and sexism w/ detective darnley small

We are back with season three of The World As I Like It To Be (#theworldasilike) podcast and none too soon. Another day, another potential cop shooting makes the headlines.

Whether it is the bombshell Netflix documentary When They See Us by Ava DuVernay and produced by Robert DeNiro and Oprah Winfrey among others,

or a Utah mother seeing her 10 year old child being held at gun point by a police officer or a Delaware man traveling to  Pennsylvania to settle old tickets ending up dead in police custody, America is once again being forced to face this ugly truth without our society and, so called, justice system.

On today’s show we will be speaking to Detective Darnley Small, a retired instructor for the New York City police department.  

Detective Small worked in the human relations unit which trained bosses and officers within the department on issue of racial tolerance and discrimination within the department.

His understanding and training on discrimination and racism and what happens in the department will be very instructive for us.
